Vinegar is a diluted form of acetic acid (AcOH) and has been used for its health benefits for thousands of years. Several studies have been conducted on animals showing that vinegar has been able to help individuals lower their blood sugar levels, decrease insulin levels, improve metabolism, reduce fat storages, and burn fat.
More recently a study was conducted with 144 obese Japanese students who consumed either one tablespoon (15ml) of vinegar, two tablespoons (30ml) of vinegar, or a placebo drink every day. Those who consumed one table spoon of vinegar lost 2.6lbs over the 12 week study period and saw a 0.7% decrease in their overall body fat. Those who consumed two table spoons of vinegar lost 3.7lbs over the 12 week study period and saw a decrease of 0.9% in their body fat. The individuals consuming the placebo gained 0.9lbs,
